Particularities
Translating OTOBO Documentation
OTOBO documentation is provided in reStructuredText format. Be careful not to break the structure when translating it.
Get to know the most important structure elements and how to handle them correctly:
*Emphases*
Emphasised text is put between two asterisks.
This kind of formatting is typically applied to GUI elements such as screen names, titles, buttons and labels.
Translate? Yes
Please check the user interface translations, and make sure to use the same wording in the documentation.
Example
EN Use the *Ticket Zoom* screen to see the ticket details. DE Verwenden Sie die Ansicht *TicketZoom*, um die Ticketdetails anzuzeigen.
**Bold text**
Bold text is put between two double asterisks.
This kind of formatting is typically used for important information.
Translate? Yes
Most definitely;)
Example
EN **Don't continue** the update if you get an error message. DE **Unterbrechen** Sie das Update, wenn eine Fehlermeldung angezeigt wird.
` `Literal text` `
Literal text is put between two double back-tick characters.
This kind of formatting is typically used for variable names, configuration names and file paths.
Translate? No
Do not translate literal text as this will break the document structure.
Example
EN Activate ``group`` in system configuration ``ExamplePermission###100``. DE Aktivieren Sie ``group`` in der Systemkonfiguration ``ExamplePermission###100``.
:ref: `Internal links`
Internal links reference other pages or page headings.
doc:`page-name` is used to point to a page, and :ref:`Heading Title` is used to point to a heading. The custom tag :sysconfig:`System Configuration Name` is used to point to a system configuration.
Translate? No
Text der anstelle von page-name, Heading Title and System Configuration Name steht, darf nicht übersetzt werden. Eine Übersetzung würde die Dokumentenstruktur zerstören.
Example
EN See page :doc:`queues` to add a queue, especially section :ref:`Queue Settings`. DE Siehe :doc:`queues`, insbesondere den Abschnitt :ref:`Queue Settings` für weitere Informationen zum Hinzufügen einer Queue.
External Links
External links consist of the text that is displayed as a link (visible text) and the URL pointing to the referenced website in the following formatting: `visible text `__. (no spaces between parentheses and URL in real life).
Translate? Yes & No
Translate the visible text and leave the URL as it is or adjust it to point to the relevant language page.
Example
EN See `OTOBO website < https://otobo.de/en/ >`__ for more information. DE Weitere Informationen auf der `OTOBO Website < https://otobo.de/de/ >`__.
